3 Boomers for Thome Thursday, July 21st , 2039 In a powerful performance that left the fans at JetBlue Park buzzing, West Palm Beach Dolphins starting pitcher John Thome blasted a trio of home runs en route to a 13-6 win over the Fort Myers Flamingos. "Everything was clicking," Thome told the press. "My timing was good and I got pitches I could handle and I didn't miss them." Thome shined brilliantly in the win, with 3 hits in 5 at-bats, 5 RBIs and 3 runs scored. "It's not just one guy, it's everybody," Dolphins manager Jesus Perez said. "John played great but it takes more than one guy to win a game." John Thome hit a solo-shot off Mark Sandford in the 2nd, struck out in the 3rd, struck out in the 5th, hit a solo-shot off Thomas MacBride in the 7th and hit a three-run home run off Thomas MacBride in the 9th. To date Thome is 1-1 in 2 starts with a 4.26 ERA and has 10 strikeouts in 19 innings. |
