Newman Brilliant, Blanks Flamingos Tuesday, August 16th , 2039 Lee Newman had an impressive outing at Ed Smith Stadium today, hurling the Coral Springs Manatees to a 5-0 shutout victory over the Fort Myers Flamingos. "He threw strikes and he was always around the plate," Fort Myers skipper Eddie Kessler said. "The ball was doing everything he wanted it to do. We hit some balls hard, but they were all right at the fielders." On the day, the left-handed Newman yielded 3 hits and tallied 8 strikeouts with 1 walk.
