Aluarez Holds Havana Scoreless
Thursday, July 12th, 2007
Juan Aluarez hurled a fine game for the Veracruz Rojos del Aguila at Rojos del Aguila Ballpark today, holding the Havana Industriales to 4 hits in a shutout win.
"When he started out, his command wasn't that good, but he's a tough guy," Veracruz manager Mike Voltz said. "The more pitches he throws, the better his command is."
The right-hander had 3 strikeouts and 1 walk in the 5-0 victory.
"An outstanding job," Havana manager Ralph Cero said. "We couldn't get anything going. Every time we got a hit, he got out of the jam. He pitched a terrific game."
Aluarez has started 17 times this year, pitched 112.1 innings, fanned 79 batters and walked 17. His current record is 9 wins and 4 losses with a 2.56 ERA.
