League Suspends Dunphy and Ortega for Fisticuffs
Tuesday, September 4th, 2007
After an intense confrontation, both the Acereros Eric Dunphy and the Conquistadores Juan Ortega were handed their punishments today. The league commissioner's office issued suspensions for an on-the-field conflict that occurred at a recent Monclova-Mexico City game. Eric Dunphy will miss 4 games, while Juan Ortega was suspended for 9 games.

"Sometimes we go too far and have to pay the consequences," Eric Dunphy commented later. "Hopefully cooler heads will prevail the next time we play."

This season Dunphy is hitting .295 with 7 home runs.

So far this season, Ortega has compiled a 3-1 won-lost mark with 1 save and a 1.90 ERA. In 42.2 innings he has fanned 46 and opponents are hitting him at a .242 clip.
