Paul Hazen could take little solace in pitching a good game. The fact is his Glendale Gauchos lost, dropping a 3-2 decision to the Mesa Saguaros at Maryvale Baseball Park. Wallace Randle earned the save, his 4th, for the Saguaros. The Saguaros now own a record of 21-16.
Mesa used the hitting of David Thomsen to pick up the win. The left fielder clubbed a 2-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Saguaros on top, 3-1. For the game, Thomsen had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
After the game, Mesa manager Jesse Dusseau applauded the team's effort. "They busted their humps out there," he said.
