Quahogs Net 3-1 Win
|
Surprise Stadium was the site of a tense game between the Phoenix Armadillos and Buckeye Quahogs.
Starting Pitcher Ethan Carson was lights out, as the Buckeye Quahogs beat the Phoenix Armadillos, 3-1. The winning pitcher was Carson, now 3-3. He tossed 7 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 0 and fanning 4.
Buckeye took a 3-1 lead on Neron Grijalva's 3rd home run of the season. The 2-run home run, which Grijalva hit in the bottom of the seventh, left Phoenix pitcher Braxton Vaughn visibly frustrated.
"Winning makes the heart grow fonder -- for more winning," said Carson, cracking a smile.
By defeating Phoenix, the 7th-place Quahogs improved to 15-27.
