Swordfish, Allen Blast Quahogs, 11-0
|
The Florence Swordfish pasted the Buckeye Quahogs with a convincing 11-0 defeat at Surprise Stadium. Jackson Allen was a prime factor in the Florence win. He was 3 for 4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 4. Abraham Pérez, the winner, is now 2-0. He struck out 6 and walked 0 over 7.2 innings, while allowing no runs on 7 hits. With the victory, the Swordfish upped their record to 28-21.
With Florence leading 5-0 in the top of the second, Allen came up to bat against Buckeye pitcher Samuel Abreu. Allen hit a fastball to right for a grand slam home run. His 5th home run of the season put the Swordfish on top, 9-0.
Buckeye manager Brendon Brown, after yet another defeat, said, "It looked like we never got off the bus, the way we played."
