Saguaros Drop Salamanders, 8-6
|
Capitals Ballpark played host to some real drama.
The Mesa Saguaros needed 11 innings to defeat the Scottsdale Salamanders, 8-6, at Capitals Ballpark. Mesa right fielder Damon Summers had a superb performance. He went 4 for 4 with 2 home runs, 2 singles, and a walk, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice. Mesa reliever Wallace Randle was the winner. His record is now 2-2. The losing pitcher was Lyle Lindsay.
The game was still up for grabs in the bottom of the 11th. With two out, Summers hit a fastball from Lyle Lindsay for a 2-run home run. The Saguaros, in dramatic fashion, had a walk-off win.
"Great to get the crowd on its feet," Summers said.
By defeating Scottsdale, the first-place Saguaros improved to 27-21.
