Gauchos Score 3-1 Win Over Boca Raton
|
The Glendale Gauchos topped the Boca Raton Buccaneers, 3-1, in Arizona Rookie League action at Indians Developmental Complex. The standout performance belonged to Glendale pitcher and Stamford, Connecticut, native Kermit Sherman. Sherman, now 4-2, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 3 hits, while striking out 2, walking 0, and allowing no runs. Ezekiel Rizk earned the save for Glendale, his 6th of the year.
Karim Barnes, the 20-year old center fielder , had a direct impact on the outcome. Barnes contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the eighth inning to put Glendale up, 2-0.
"Anytime I can help the team, I feel good about it," said Barnes.
The Gauchos improved to 14-12.
