Hummingbirds Trip Gauchos, 4-2, in Extra Innings
The Sierra Vista Hummingbirds took Glendale pitcher Hudson Eckhardt's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Surprise Stadium. The final score had Sierra Vista getting past the Gauchos, 4-2. Eckhardt went 6 innings and allowed 2 runs, striking out 5. Sierra Vista reliever Yuriy Stashko picked up the win, raising his record to 1-3. Lee Raynaud was tagged with the loss. The Hummingbirds are now 14-15, while the Gauchos fall to 14-15.

Sierra Vista won the game in the bottom of the tenth inning. With one out and Lee Raynaud on the mound for Glendale, center fielder Kirk Chieves hit a dramatic 2-run home run, bringing Hummingbirds fans to their feet.

"There are times you get yourself out and there are times you come through," Chieves said. "That's how it goes."
