5-for-5 Day for Wigington
|
A jubilant Noah Wigington joined the postgame press conference at Hohokam Park to offer some unusual words of encouragement -- for the Ahwatukee Roughnecks pitching staff he had just vanquished.
"It may not have looked like it," said the Scottsdale Salamanders center fielder, "but I saw some awful good pitches today. If luck hadn't been on my side it might have turned out a lot different."
That would not have been the conclusion of anyone who saw his dominant 5-for-5 hitting performance, which led to the 10-4 Salamanders win.
"He made it look easy," said Ray Badgerow, manager of the Roughnecks. "We never figured out what to do with him. Obviously."
Noah Wigington singled in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, hit a solo-shot off Dane Parker in the 5th, singled in the 7th and singled in the 8th.
Thus far in 2062, Wigington is hitting .335 with 6 home runs, 22 RBIs, 20 runs scored and has compiled a .393 OBP.
