Gilbert Geckos starter Stanford Gorton was in midseason form, as he helped his team beat the Florence Swordfish, 5-0. The third-place Swordfish now sit at 35-28.

Anastasio Adame had a big 2-run home run for the Geckos in the top of the second inning. With Gilbert leading 1-0 and a runner on 1st, he sized up a fastball from 18-year old right-handed pitcher Conor Fisher and punished it. The result was his 8th home run of the season, which put the Geckos on top, 3-0.

"Not too many highlights on our side," said losing manager Victor Acosta.
