Mesa rode a fine outing from starter Leo Batiz to victory over the Cape Coral Hammerheads at Capitals Ballpark. The final score was 2-1. J.D. Garcia picked up the save, his 11th. The Saguaros go to 20-14, putting them second in the Arizona Rookie League South Division.

The Hammerheads had been locked in a 1-1 tie with the Saguaros going into the bottom of the fourth inning. That changed quickly when the 18-year old center fielder Josh Sherbert came to the plate. Sherbert hit a solo home run on a 1-0 splitter from Cape Coral hurler Jaxson McDavid. It was Sherbert's 3rd home run of the year.

"We scored one run," said Cape Coral manager Roger Diaz. "You're not gonna get a lot of Ws scoring just one run."
