|
Fort Lauderdale Pirates starter Von Salzillo was on his game, helping his team beat the Hialeah Gales, 8-1. Salzillo yielded 1 run over 6.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 4 hits, walked 1, and struck out 6. His record improves to 1-0. Fort Lauderdale, now 7-1, is playing great baseball to start the year.
Fort Lauderdale used a clutch at-bat from Jack Tizio to capture the win. The pinch hitter hammered a grand slam home run in the top of the fourth inning to put the Pirates ahead, 5-1. It was his lone hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a humdinger.
