Lars Porcaro was superb against Kingman. The right-hander, who is tied for 9th in the FLA with a 10.9 K/9 rate, had a slider that was virtually unhittable at times. The result was a Herons victory. The score was 4-1. Porcaro went 5.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 3 hits, walked 2, and struck out 13. His record improves to 1-4. Kingman is in the throes of a 9-game skid.
Lamar Afflerbach, the 20-year old third baseman , had a direct impact on the outcome. Afflerbach contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the fifth inning to put Pembroke Pines up, 2-1.
