The Scottsdale Salamanders did just enough to secure a victory over the Gilbert Geckos, 3-2, at Camelback Ranch. Nobody did more than pitcher Mark Elmore. Getting the save was Roberto Kross, his 7th. Scottsdale is now 19-26.

In the top of the fifth inning, designated hitter Andy Bailey came through big-time for the Salamanders. With Scottsdale trailing 2-0, he belted a 2-run home run.

Gilbert manager Jason Blahut said he was "mildly disappointed" with the loss. "We had our opportunities, but we didn't take advantage of them," he said.
