The Hialeah Gales outlasted Dylan Kirkwood and the Chandler Ranchers, 9-8. Kirkwood was impressive in the loss. The Chandler pitcher threw 5.2 innings of 3-hit ball. Joachim Heller snagged the win in relief. In 2 innings, the right-hander allowed 1 run on 4 hits. He's now 6-2 on the season. The winning streak has now reached 5 games for Hialeah.

The game was at a stalemate until center fielder Ryan Sanders came to bat in the top of the ninth. Facing Chandler pitcher Yuvenal Brito, he hit a 0-1 fastball for a 2-run single. It was a game-changer, putting Hialeah on top, 9-7.

"Guys always talk about winning games because of the 'little things,'" Sanders told the Hialeah Bulletin. "Call me old fashioned, but I think baseball is about the big things -- like scoring more runs."
