Schellinger Slaps 6 Hits
Today at Ed Smith Stadium, Cooper Schellinger put on an impressive display.

The Oviedo Catch center fielder tagged Coral Springs pitching for 6 hits in 6 at-bats, but his teammates were unable to capitalize on the spree and lost the game to the Coral Springs Manatees by the score of 14-11.

"The loss takes some of the joy out of it, but I'll take it," Schellinger said. "6-for-6 ain't bad in any league."

Despite the terrific performance, the Catch manager was unwilling to offer the center fielder much praise, saying the "whole roster" is held accountable for losses.

"Cooper told me 'Coach, I had 6 hits' and I said 'Well that's great, but it looks like we needed one more from you,'" manager Axel Lewis said.

Cooper Schellinger hit a solo-shot off Laertes Tippett in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, hit a two-run home run off R.J. Huntley in the 3rd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 6th and singled in the 8th.


So far this year, Schellinger is hitting .434 with 4 home runs.
