Threshers Get Defeated by Gauchos, 6-5
|
The Glendale Gauchos did just enough to secure a victory over the Clearwater Threshers, 6-5, at Maryvale Baseball Park. Nobody did more than pitcher Kermit Sherman. Sherman, the winner, moves to 5-5. He threw 6 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 7 and giving up 3 walks. Biff Kennedy recorded the save, his 1st.
The Gauchos got a big at-bat from pinch hitter Richie Carr. For the game, Carr went 1-1 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the sixth, with runners on 2nd and 3rd, he stroked a 3-run home run. His 3rd home run of the season gave Glendale a 4-1 lead.
"Glad to go home with a win," said Sherman.
At 26-24, Glendale is in 5th place in the Arizona Rookie League North Division.
