De la Costa Dominant in Pirates Victory
|
The Fort Lauderdale Pirates picked up a win at Florida Auto Exchange Stadium, knocking off the Gilbert Geckos, 5-1. On the mound for Fort Lauderdale was right-hander Rick De la Costa, who played a pivotal role in the win. The 6th-place Pirates improved to 28-21.
De la Costa, the winner, is now 3-1. In 7 innings of work, he gave up 1 run on 3 hits, while collecting 11 Ks. He essentially shut down the Gilbert offense.
"I went after the hitters," said De la Costa. "No pussyfooting around."
