The Boca Raton Buccaneers defeated the Kissimmee Kumquats by the score of 7-3, with the biggest share of the credit going to shortstop David Carthens. Carthens went 2-3 with a home run, a walk, and was hit by a pitch, while scoring 2 and driving in 2 for the Buccaneers on the day. Axel Crowley picked up the win with 6.1 innings of work. He allowed 3 runs on 9 hits, while walking 0 and striking out 7. On the season, he is now 2-1. Boca Raton currently is in second place in the Florida Rookie League Southeast Division at 19-12.

The Kumquats had been locked in a 3-3 tie with the Buccaneers going into the bottom of the fifth inning. That changed quickly when the 21-year old second baseman Bowen Brown came to the plate. Brown hit a 3-run home run on a 1-1 fastball from Kissimmee hurler Jace Strunk. It was Brown's 2nd home run of the year.

"As well as we've been playing, I think we can play even better," said Boca Raton manager Serge Olivero.
