The first-place Sanibel Sailors picked up another win.

With designated hitter Nelson Montes leading the charge, the Sanibel Sailors defeated the Daytona Beach Hurricanes, 15-7, at Sailors Ballpark. Montes, who is tied for 9th in the FLA in home runs with 8, was 4 for 6 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 4. Sanibel reliever Erik Lopez picked up the win, upping his record to 1-1. David Lewis was saddled with the loss. Rodrigo Ojeda, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 1st save.

Nacho Candelaria had a big 2-run double for the Sailors in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Sanibel trailing 7-6 and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he got a fastball from 19-year old right-handed pitcher Tom Vanginkel and swatted a double to center. It was his 3rd double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Sailors ahead, 8-7.

"You know, at the end of the day, it's about who scores the most runs," said Sanibel manager Shannon Vincek.

Sanibel leads the Florida Rookie League Northwest Division by 5 games.
