The Boca Raton Buccaneers overcame a fine performance by Ahwatukee second baseman Ralph Gitchell to defeat the Roughnecks, 5-3, at Indians Developmental Complex. Gitchell was 3 for 3 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. Boca Raton pitcher Kieran Riley got the win. He's now 4-1. Jake Robertson was tagged with the loss. Earning his 11th save for Boca Raton was Sebastian Yartz.

With two out in the bottom of the seventh, Laray Taylor had a game-changing hit. The Buccaneers pinch hitter slammed a 2-run single off Joaquin Sanjurjo, making the score 3-2, Boca Raton.

"Say want you want about this team, they play nine innings hard," said Boca Raton manager Jose Villalobos.

Boca Raton now owns a record of 30-25.
