Though he had a great game, Jeremiah Perry could not single-handedly produce a win for Cape Coral. Daytona Beach won the game, 3-2. Perry went 3-3 with 3 singles and 2 walks. The Hurricanes sit in last place in the Florida Rookie League Northwest Division with a record of 21-25.
Daytona Beach used a well-timed hit by Lanny Parent to capture the win. The shortstop socked a run-scoring double in the top of the fifth inning to put the Hurricanes ahead, 3-0. Though it was his only hit in 3 at-bats, it was important.
"I don't lose sleep over a loss," said Parent. "But I have better dreams after a win."
