Enthusiastic fans came out to support the home team at Joker Marchant Stadium.
Cape Coral Hammerheads starter Scotty Hill was in midseason form, as he helped his team beat the Boca Raton Buccaneers, 6-1. The winner was Hill. He threw 5.1 innings of shutout ball. The loser was Axel Crowley.
The Hammerheads got a big at-bat from third baseman Stanley Sangolt. For the game, Sangolt was 1-3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the first, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 7th home run of the season gave Cape Coral a 2-0 lead.
Hill called the win "an overall solid one."
The Hammerheads, now 20-23, know that wins in August count the same as wins in September.
