Marty Van Pelt put on a hitting clinic as the Fort Lauderdale Pirates dumped the Oviedo Catch, 19-6, at Florida Auto Exchange Stadium.

The Fort Lauderdale center fielder made Oviedo defenders earn their pay, lashing Oviedo pitching for 5 hits in 5 at-bats in the game. He told BNN reporters after the game that his strategy was "just hit it where they pitched it."

"Too often I try too hard to pull the ball," Van Pelt said in his postgame press conference. "Today, I just went with the pitch."

Marty Van Pelt hit an RBI single in the 1st, hit a two-run home run off Vern Love in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off Ethan Long in the 4th, walked in the 5th, singled in the 6th and hit an RBI single in the 8th.
