Tight Tilt Goes to Pirates, 3-2
|
Fort Lauderdale Pirates starter Jeremiah Yurcak turned in a sterling performance against the West Palm Beach Dolphins, leading his team to a slim, 3-2 win. Yurcak got the win, improving to 3-3. He gave up 10 hits and walked 1 over 6.1 innings. He allowed no runs. The first-place Pirates now have a win-loss record of 31-18.
The Pirates got a big at-bat from center fielder Daniel Sánchez. For the game, Sánchez went 1-3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the fifth, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 6th home run of the season gave Fort Lauderdale a 2-0 lead.
West Palm Beach manager Juan Flores said he was "mildly disappointed" with the loss. "We had our opportunities, but we didn't take advantage of them," he said.
