Daytona Beach beat Fort Lauderdale in a rain-soaked ballgame.
The Daytona Beach Hurricanes got a stellar effort from pitcher Grady Crawford, helping Daytona Beach score a win over the visiting Fort Lauderdale Pirates, 1-0. Payton Witherell earned the save for Daytona Beach.
Crawford, who has sometimes raised the ire of coaches and teammates with his famously lackadaisical work ethic, turned in a spirited effort. The hurler struck out 6 in 6.1 innings and gave up no runs.
Crawford moves to 2-0 on the year with 8 strikeouts.
"All in all, I thought Grady pitched a fine game for us tonight," said Daytona Beach manager Bryce Guerra.
The Hurricanes lead the Florida Rookie League Northwest Division by 2 games.
