Pirates Snag 5-2 Win
|
The Fort Lauderdale Pirates picked up a win at Osceola County Stadium, knocking off the Daytona Beach Hurricanes, 5-2. Starting pitcher Logan Miller was a big reason why. Miller picked up the win for Fort Lauderdale, going 7 innings. He gave up 2 runs on 7 hits. He now sports a record of 4-4. Picking up his 3rd save was 17-year old left-handed pitcher Braxton Valentine.
Fort Lauderdale shortstop Jarret Shelton contributed a timely at-bat in the top of the eighth. With two down, he hit a fastball to center field for a 2-run single. It was his 39th hit of the season and put the Pirates ahead, 5-2.
"This team is real focused right now," said Fort Lauderdale manager Bob Parra.
The Pirates raised their record to 26-26.
