Pompano Beach Defeats Gainesville, 7-3
|
The Pompano Beach Aqua Sox overcame a good performance by Gainesville catcher Eli Deese to knock off Gainesville, 7-3, at Hammond Stadium. Deese was 2 for 2 with a home run, a walk, and was hit by a pitch, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. With the win, Pompano Beach upped its record to 30-30.
Pompano Beach used the bat of Ronald Sherman to get the win. The second baseman hammered a grand slam home run in the top of the first inning to put the Aqua Sox ahead, 5-0. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it did its damage.
In comments to the Pompano Beach Observer, Sherman admitted that he doesn't always push himself. "But the results," he said, "speak for themselves."
