Dundies Come Back Late, Nip Chiefs
|
The Scranton Dundies managed to get by the Syracuse Chiefs, 2-1, at Victory Field. Scranton pitcher Brian Kuester set himself apart with his performance. Scranton reliever Evan Kelly picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Matthew Szymanski shouldered the loss. Picking up the save was Cooper Maloney, his 1st.
Scranton used a timely hit from Emerson Chinea to get the win. The shortstop stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the ninth inning to put the Dundies ahead, 2-1. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it made an impact.
"Both teams played hard," said Scranton manager Dustin Bartholomew.
The win leaves Scranton with a record of 1-1.
