Norfolk starter Joseph Fontain put a stranglehold on the Pawtucket offense. The right-hander had complete command of his cutter in leading the Tides to a 1-0 win. Fontain went 6.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 5 hits, walked 0, and struck out 4. His record improves to 1-0. Hudson Thames sewed up the save, his 3rd.

Paul Ramos aided the Norfolk cause with a run-scoring ground out in the bottom of the first. For the game, the left fielder drove in one run.

"Nice win," said Fontain. "Not sure what else you want me to say."

Pawtucket drops to 3-5.
