Chiefs Pull Off Thrilling 7-5 Win in Extras
The performance of Hunter Schmidt proved critical in helping Syracuse beat Birmingham, 7-5. The Chiefs right fielder was 2-4 with a double and 2 walks, while scoring 3 runs. Every game is important, even these early ones, if the Chiefs hope to make a postseason run.

It could have been a different outcome for Syracuse, had it not been for Elías Espinosa, the 34-year old third baseman . Espinosa contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the 11th inning to put Syracuse up, 6-5.

"I'm not out there for personal accomplishments," Espinosa told a Syracuse Bulletin reporter after the game. "I'm out there to help the team win, and that's what we did today."
