Clippers Need Extra Innings to Top Barons, 4-2
|
The Columbus Clippers used a stellar performance from pitcher Jacob Howard to throttle the Wilkes-Barre offense en route to an extra-inning, 4-2 win at Coca-Cola Park. Columbus reliever Joe Mint got the win, raising his record to 2-0. Christian Crowe was tagged with the loss. Erik Burris was credited with the save for Columbus, his 1st of the season.
Columbus used a timely hit from Ichabod Majerus to get the win. The third baseman stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the 11th inning to put the Clippers ahead, 2-1. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it made an impact.
"There's never a lack of effort in our clubhouse. We're willing to do the little things to get the win," Majerus told the Columbus Gazette.
The Clippers, now 11-3, have played some good baseball in the early going.
