Bears 3-1 Losers to Barons
|
Lester Schooley never let the Bears get in a groove. The left-hander used his bread and butter, his slider, to pitch the Barons to a win, 3-1. With the win, Birmingham goes to 7-9.
The Barons had to work out of trouble with no one out in the bottom of the ninth. The score was 3-1, Birmingham. But Newark, with the bases empty, had mounted a threat. Jhoulys García dug in at the plate. But on a 2-0 fastball, García grounded out.
