The Ottawa Oddballs rode a solid performance from 30-year-old starting pitcher Benjamin Gravel to a win, beating the Toledo Mud Hens, 4-1, at Fifth Third Field. Gravel got the win, improving to 1-1. He gave up 5 hits and walked 3 over 7.1 innings. He allowed 1 run. Joshua Marks closed the game out for Ottawa, earning his 1st save.

Weston Lay came through with a big-time hit for Ottawa. The left fielder smacked a 2-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to give his team the lead, 2-1. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.

"You need to show up when your number's called," said Lay.

Ottawa, now 10-5, has played well in the early going.
