Stripers Turn Back Mud Hens, 3-1
|
Gwinnett picked up a win at Coolray Field, toppling the Toledo Mud Hens, 3-1. Pitcher Ashante Kearney was one of the reasons the Stripers triumphed. Kearney, now 2-4, was the winner. In 6.2 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 6, walking 1, and allowing 1 run. Theo Barrera was called on to finish, recording his 2nd save.
In the bottom of the third, with Gwinnett trailing 1-0, designated hitter Zachary Halter hit a 2-run double. The hit came off Jedd George and put the Stripers ahead, 2-1.
"We take it day by day here," said Halter, "and today was a good one for us."
The Mud Hens fall to 11-16 and continue their wobbly start to the 2052 season.
