Chiefs Rip Birmingham, 12-2
|
The Syracuse Chiefs captured an easy win, 12-2, over the Birmingham Barons at Raley Field. Lochlan Iacobellis led the offensive barrage, going 3-for-5 for Syracuse. Syracuse reliever Maxwell Hight picked up the win, upping his record to 4-1. Walt Schonlebe absorbed the loss. The loss makes Birmingham 15-17.
Syracuse used a well-timed hit by Sireno Estevez to capture the win. The third baseman socked a 2-run double in the top of the sixth inning to put the Chiefs ahead, 3-2. Though it was his only hit in 6 at-bats, it was important.
"We didn't help ourselves, it's as simple as that," said losing manager Steve Anderson.
