Mud Hens Get Close Win Over Barons, 6-5
|
The Toledo Mud Hens overcame a good performance by Birmingham third baseman Ray Morton to knock off Birmingham, 6-5, at Fifth Third Field. Morton was 3 for 4 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Tray Cheng picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 1-2. Herbert Foret was tagged with the loss. Buck Buterbaugh finished the game for Toledo and earned his 9th save.
First Baseman Milton Teixeira made an impact for Toledo, when he swatted a run-scoring double off Ivan Wolverton in the bottom of the fifth. For the contest, Teixeira went 1 for 3 with a double and a walk.
"What's not to like about a win?" said Teixeira.
Toledo, at 16-17, holds down 5th place in the International League Southwest Division.
