Vogel, Barons Beat Chiefs, 5-1
|
The Wilkes-Barre Barons bested the Syracuse Chiefs, 5-1, at Coca-Cola Park. Gordon Vogel was one of the standouts. He went 3-3 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. Stan Wakefield picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 4-2. Ethan Hylton was tagged with the loss. The Barons are now 21-16, while the Chiefs fall to 20-17.
The game turned with two out in the bottom of the sixth when Vogel hit a run-scoring single. It propelled the Barons into the lead, 2-1.
"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Vogel told the Wilkes-Barre Today.
