Bears Win Thriller, 3-2
|
The Newark Bears got a stellar effort from pitcher Thad Swearinger, helping Newark score a win over the visiting Wilkes-Barre Barons, 3-2. Ryan Iwanicki snagged the win in relief. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit over 2.1 innings. He's now 4-2 on the season. Newark has 3 straight wins, Wilkes-Barre 3 straight losses.
William Sumalee was the walk-off hero for Newark. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Bears first baseman hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.
"It's what good teams do, find a way to win," said Sumalee.
