The Charlotte Knights took it on the chin, losing, 10-1, to the Louisville Bats. Andy Shankman, who is tied for 2nd in the IL in wins with 4, pitched a strong game for Louisville. The winner was Shankman. He threw 8.0 innings of shutout ball. The loser was Kyler Trippe. The third-place Bats now have a record of 23-16.

Lochlan Iacobellis had a big 3-run home run for the Bats in the bottom of the first inning. With Louisville leading 2-0 and runners on 1st and 3rd, he sized up a fastball from 24-year old right-handed pitcher Kyler Trippe and punished it. The result was his 5th home run of the season, which put the Bats on top, 5-0.
