Spirited fans greeted the Rochester Norsemen for their clash with the Newark Bears.
The Newark Bears downed the Rochester Norsemen, 4-1, at Frontier Field. Stellar pitching by Curt Peterson had a lot to do with it. The right-hander handcuffed his opponent all game. Peterson, the winner, moves to 3-1. He threw 5.2 innings of 2-hit ball, while fanning 5 and giving up 4 walks.
Rory Goodwin, who is tied for 9th in the IL in stolen bases with 6, had a direct impact on the outcome. Goodwin contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the fourth inning to put Newark up, 1-0.
"I felt good. I felt like I was locating the ball well and I was able to keep them off-balance," said Peterson.
The win boosted Newark to 23-17.
