Stripers Resilient in 2-1 Win Over Columbus
|
The Columbus Clippers wasted an inspired, 6.1-inning effort from starter Roderigo Swartz, falling, 2-1, to the Gwinnett Stripers at Coolray Field. Zachary Murch, credited with the win in relief, is now 1-2. He allowed no runs on no hits in 1 innings. Gwinnett is now 18-23.
The decisive blow was delivered by Caleb Mancillas in the bottom of the ninth when he hit a solo home run off 24-year old right-handed pitcher Tyler Thurston to win the game for Gwinnett. The home crowd went nuts.
"What a great game, great atmosphere," Mancillas said.
