Norsemen Trip Barons, 3-1
|
The Rochester Norsemen had to overcome a good performance from Birmingham pitcher Owen Dooley to claim a 3-1 win at Raley Field. Dooley went 6 innings and allowed 2 runs. Daniel McGill closed it out for Rochester, earning his 11th save. The first-place Norsemen bumped their record to 27-15.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Jonas Burge? The Rochester right fielder had a run-scoring double in the top of the third inning to put the Norsemen on top, 1-0. For the game, Burge had 1 double and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"You score one run, you're not going to win," said Birmingham skipper Steve Anderson. "You can have three Koufaxes and three Drysdales, you're still not going to win."
