Quiñones Socks 2 Home Runs in 5-4 Charlotte Win
|
The Charlotte Knights defeated the Syracuse Chiefs, 5-4, at Hustlers Stadium. Charlotte left fielder Vic Quiñones had a superb performance. He went 3 for 4 with 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. Charlotte reliever Dainer Moran picked up the win, upping his record to 2-2. B.J. Johnson shouldered the loss. Getting the save was Darrell Bruen, his 9th.
Quiñones had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the eighth. On a first pitch slider from B.J. Johnson, he banged a solo home run to left-center, giving the Knights a 5-4 lead. It was the 11th home run of the year for Quiñones.
"They played a better game than we did," said Syracuse skipper Aaron Calderon.
Charlotte is 7th in the International League Southwest Division with a record of 21-24.
