Barons Earn 3-1 Home Win
|
Baseball fans saw a good contest between the Wilkes-Barre Barons and Durham Bulls.
The bats were silent much of the day at Coca-Cola Park. But 27-year old left fielder Ben Earle produced just enough offense to carry the Barons past the Durham Bulls, 3-1. Earle went 2-4 with a home run and a double, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Harrison Hall wrapped it up, recording his 1st save.
Earle had a timely hit for Wilkes-Barre in the bottom of the sixth. With Wilkes-Barre trailing 1-0, he turned a 1-1 fastball into a 3-run home run. It was his 1st home run of the season, making it 3-1, Wilkes-Barre.
"It's nice to step up when your team needs you," said Earle.
With the win, Wilkes-Barre pushed its record to 28-20.
