Bears Snatch Late-Game, 5-4 Win
The Newark Bears snuck past the Scranton Dundies, 5-4, in 10 innings. Newark pitcher Thad Swearinger, in particular, had a standout performance. Finn White earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 1.2 innings. He upped his record to 1-1. Wayne Corrie was called on to finish, recording his 9th save.

Victor Stefani came through with a big-time hit for Newark. The second baseman smacked a 2-run home run in the top of the tenth inning to give his team the lead, 5-3. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.

"The game is never over 'til it's over," said a jubilant Shark McGee, the Newark skipper.

Newark is now 27-23, Scranton 27-23.
