Bears Even Record with 4-1 Victory
|
The Newark Bears picked up a win at Orlando Grounds, knocking off the Orlando Wizards, 4-1. Starting pitcher Yannick File was a big reason why. File yielded no runs over 6 innings to notch the win. He scattered 3 hits, walked 3, and struck out 4. His record improves to 4-4. The Bears raised their record to 26-26.
Newark used the timely hitting of Tino Cruz to capture the win. The second baseman socked a 2-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Bears ahead, 2-0. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a big one.
Newark manager Shark McGee called it "a pretty good win."
