Stripers Clip Dundies, 1-0
|
Scranton wasted a solid 6.1-inning effort from starting pitcher Cato Ambros, losing to Gwinnett, 1-0, at PNC Field. Gwinnett reliever Noah Collier picked up the win, upping his record to 2-1. Cooper Maloney shouldered the loss. Theo Barrera earned the save for Gwinnett, his 7th.
Gwinnett used a timely hit from John Krueckeberg to get the win. The shortstop stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the eighth inning to put the Stripers ahead, 1-0. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it made an impact.
"We'll savor this win," Krueckeberg told the Gwinnett Herald, "then get ready for the next game."
With the win, Gwinnett has a record of 20-31. Scranton falls to 27-24.
